It happens so fast! As I'm writing this, one session (#2) is already sold out, and I just opened registration at 6:30 tonight. But room in 1st and 3rd! Go to the REGISTRATION page for more information.
Wow. What a wonderful three weeks of writing! This year saw the inaugural year of session 3, and those upstarts took it to sessions 1 and 2 with a total of 277,500 words written! But the numbers were fabulous for all three sessions. My rough estimate of words written in all three sessions: 700,000+
Congrats, too, to word count king Mark Edwards from session 2, who finished with just over 42,000 words written! Honors for session 3 went to Maggie Croft, with 34,000, and session 1's Randy McCharles finished with 30,400.
There will be 3 sessions again next year! Stay tuned for registration for 2016! ~Patrick
Two sessions are in the books! The third session starts tomorrow. Can you even STAND the thought of having to wait another year for your chance to try the retreat out for yourself? Stay tuned after the retreats, and keep an eye on the website for your chance!
The schedules and the various author discussions are now up for all three sessions over on the schedule page. Over three sessions, how's this for a list of wonderful presenters? Kat Richardson, Ellen Klages, Rachel Swirsky, James Van Pelt, J.A. Pitts, Brenda Cooper, Daryl Gregory, Nancy Kress, Fran Wilde, Jack Skillingstead, David Levine, Greg Bear, Devon Monk, Diana Pharaoh-Francis, and Susan Matthews.
Just over a month until session #1! Things have been a bit more hectic wrangling a THIRD session, so all in all, I'm a bit behind where I usually am at this point. But attendees are getting room assignments soon, and a little later, a schedule will be coming with specific information.
There have been fewer cancellations this year--at least so far--and we still have about 20 people on the wait list.
The last slots for the 2015 retreats have been sold. As of now, if you have any interest in attending, fill out the form on the "Contact Us" page to be put on a waiting list. Once accommodations are figured out for attendees, there's a slight chance a spot or two might become available in one or more sessions. This depends on whether attendees are rooming together in such a way as to leave a motel room available.
Registration opened last night, with that third session added, and it was amazing that the site held together with all the traffic. Sorry if you had a hankering for session 2, but it sold out in about 18 minutes! As of this writing though, session 1 and 3 still have slots available. But don't delay!
Announcing the addition of a third session for 2015! There was just too much demand for it, so here you go, folks. I've already scheduled a couple of special guests to whet your interest: Greg Bear and Devon Monk. Stay tuned...registration opens soon!
It always goes by so fast, doesn't it? Over 70 writers in 2 weeks had a chance to commune with the rainforest and other writers and write over 600,000 words! Stay tuned to the website for news about retreats for 2015.
Not too long from now, expect to see the "Gallery" page back with images from this year's retreats.
Here we are, the day before the first session. We're sold out, and the resort will be completely full. We have a great line-up of activities, and a whole bunch of fabulous writers on hand. It's going to be good. Second session, hang in there. You're next!
